automatic pop door opener

I was thinking of using an electric window motor from a junk car. It has a rigged arm that once stopped a coon won't be lifting it.
My Coop is some distance from the cabin and I don't do electricity well. I thought you could have a 12v battery hooked to a solar panel to trickle charge the battery. With an electric eye, a LED light would turn on and lower the door. In the morning the electric eye would open the door and turn the light off....Is anyone close to me that can figure this out, install it??? The girls could read the paper on the roost.

I just love it .. And I was thinking of just useing a long string/rope to the house ....lol

Well, you don't want the red wire controlled by the timer...because after the timer for instance shuts off sending the signal to retract...you need continued power for the motor to finish the cycle. Thats why the blue would need to go to a seperate ac plug. So...as I did it...red wire goes to the adapter that is always plugged in w/o a timer, blue goes to a second adapter which is plugged in through the timer and black is a three way splice which connects to the negative wire of both adapters. Not sure what kind of adapters you have, but if you just splice directly the wires I wouldn't think you'd need the cigarette lighter adapter your using...you just need the ac/dc adapter.

Hubby said he would hook this up if we got parts. So, I'm trying to find the adapters I need for this...do they need to be 5 amp, or 3 amp, or can I use the 1 amp?? What is necessary, and what will happen if I don't get a big enough one?

The antenna motor is rated for 5 amps, so I suspect using a one amp adapter may work, but it might run slower than it should, and w/ the xtra weight of the door I wanted to get all the current I could give it, so I sprung for the 5 amp adapter, which does cost a bit more.
