anyone know where I can buy or get plans to build the automatic water dispensers which can be attached to a carboy of water? they are like a long piece of pipe with a little cup. I saw someone selling one on the Australia poultry forum but can't find it again. Let me know if anyone knows what I'm talking about...

Not sure what you are talking about... do you have a picture of it? I have an automatic waterer made from PVC pipe and a toilet valve. I use nipple waterers screwed into the PVC. Works great!! Just search automatic waterers on BYC that's how I got my plans

I bought some of those nipple waterers but haven't made the system yet. How did you introduce the new system to your birds?

The red color prompts the chickens to peck at the nipple. Once even one pecks at it, they all catch on to it being a water source. In a pinch, catch a chicken, and hold his head so the beak pecks the nipple. Shouldn't take much effort on your part.
