We are incubating 7 eggs and the automatic turner is working well for all but the Welsummer. The Welsummer egg is very oblong and of even width, so I'm wondering if there's not enough of a convex surface to work with the turner. Suggestions?

The Welsummer is the dark brown egg on the right.

Hmmm.....not sure, might have to turn it by hand?
I assume pic is from when you first started.....what does it look like now?

This is what it looks like now and I'm a bit worried. I don't think the pip is in the right place and am worried that the membrane is drying out. It's been this way for about 8 hours now

Well, that's what I call a 'side pip'(not thru the air cell)
They can take longer as it's basically in external pip.
As long as you can see the chicks beak and that it's breathing it should be fine.
What's your humidity?

No idea on humidity (I'm a newbie!). But I can't see the chick's beak. I believe I can see a feather poking through though.

I know, I know, I know. We DID track the air sacs but I didn't think to actually draw it on the eggs. We've kept the brooder upstairs (which has a dedicated split unit) so the external temp stayed at 72 the entire time and the internal temp remained at 99.6 the entire time. Because we love in the desert we've kept a humidifier going the entire time (right next to the incubator) and kept the water reservoirs full. At each candling we noted movement and what appeared to be properly development of the chick for all six eggs.

I see a beak!!! I'm so relieved :) Two of six hatched, two peeped, waiting on other two. Thanks for being here, it helped me feel less panicked.
