I have noticed this too, on camera they look clear, here on BYC they are fuzzy.

I'm looking to see if we can increase the size without the avatars taking up too much space, we need to balance image quality with how much space the images take up.

So I was wrong, avatar pictures are resized to 96 pixels x 96 pixels, not 200 x 200.

There are several sizes of the images that are stored for use in different places. We can't adjust the physical size of the image where it's displayed, I think if we increase the file size, the quality of the image will increase.

Maybe I don't understand it, but I think that all of the pictures I just uploaded as an avatar got resized to 96 x 96.

Personally, I would rather see slightly fuzzy avatars than have to wait for a page full of clearer ones to load.
