?? Average Home Flock Size ????

4 young hens on 1/3 acre: 2 Cochins 9 weeks old and 2 Dominiques 10 weeks old, my wife and I, two boys (14 and 17), daughter off at college (20), 3 dogs, 3 cats, 1 Cockatiel and my wife's horse that lives out in pasture (off site)

I could have more chickens, but then I would need to build a larger coop and a larger run. 4 chickens is enough right now, but it is fun to hear about your larger flocks

Just me on my 5ac farmette.

I have 5 pullets but they just turned 14wks old so no eggs yet.
Neighbors have/had chickens so no problems there.
They are housed in a converted garden shed - the former owners kept poultry so it was easy to set up again for chickens.

The area is still fairly Ag Rural even with 4 (!!!) new subdivisions less than a mile up the road.

When my hens start laying, excess eggs will go to coworkers and the pantry I volunteer at.

I keep checking the BST forum here so I fear more hens may be in my future.
They DO seem to be like potato chips....

We are a family of 4 living on 2.75 acres. We have 15 pullets (hopefully no roos!) who are all under 9 weeks old. Breeds are 3 EE Black Australorp, 2 BO, 2 Dominique, 1 Jersey Giant, 3 GLW, and 2 Speckled Sussex. Any eggs our family and my home day care do not consume we hope to sell/give to daycare clients, relatives, and friends:)

We live on 5 acres and have a multi-generational household. That means at least one of the kids married, multiplied, and moved back home.

At the moment there are 6 of us, but another daughter is thinking it would be nice to live where she grew up. Fine with us.

My granddaughter (age 9) and I keep the chickens.

We have 31 that range in age from 3 weeks to almost 10 weeks. At least 1, maybe 2 roos. Looking forward to eggs. Converting the goat barn to another coop soon.

Eggs will be shared with family (6 grown kids, 11 grandkids, 4 g.grand kids), neighbors, and some disabled adults I work with. Might sell a few if the opportunity presents itself. Extra will go to the food bank in town.

I enjoyed reading about all your flocks.

I have 10 girls on 1 acre with DW , I am thinking of getting some ducks for the eggs and maybe a few more chicks. I love the closeness to nature that I feel and if that lottery ticket comes through ( the lottery is for people who cant do math ) I will expand my operation.

We have around 75 birds. We're a family of four and live on 5 1/2-6 acres. All our birds get to freerange every day exceptfor our buff orps because of breeding purposes. We sell our excess eggs/chicks around the area.

10 acres, 3 that we actually live on (rest is a soybean field) have six adult hens 1 year old & laying & 1 roo, 5 three month old pullets, SEVEN roosters from that same hatch heading for the freezer soon, and 19 chicks hatched last week - if feather-sexing is correct, 10 roos & 9 hens.
So ending total will be around 20 hens & 2 roos.
