?? Average Home Flock Size ????

Family of 4 (including a 3 mo old and a 2 1/2 yo) on 1/2 an acre with a privacy fenced yard in a neighborhood out of the city limits. No "official" laws prohibiting chickens, but we're still trying to not cause a problem with the neighbors.
We have 2 Buff Orpingtons just under 12 wks in the backyard, and this weekend picked up 3 Silkies and a Cochin, all about 4 weeks - they're in the spare bathroom.
A few eggs and a good learning experience!

I started with 8, 3 turned out to be roos so 2 left. My hen just hatched chicks 2 months ago so I have 4 more but I think one is a roo. If thats the case he will stay and the older will be rehomed. Do the math on that one

Forgot to add, just 2 of us now on 2 acres in a rural area. Eggs are for us, my mom and sometimes a neighbor.

On 1.1 acres in a rural residential neighborhood. Closest neighbor on left is half deaf and has never heard a peep or crow so far (hahaha) and the other side has a bunch of large dogs who bark all the time. They have been asking fun questions about chickens and even wanted to meet and pet the friendliest girl. The neighbor to the front is set way back on their property (and my own are halfway back on mine) and has a cow, a DONKEY (loud), sheep and dogs...empty fields and brush behind the property.

I currently have 10 that are about 4 months old (9 pullets, 1 cockerel) and 7 that are about 6 weeks old (5 pullets, 2 cockerels). It is just me, but plan to feed 3 eggs/day to my dogs, give eggs to relatives and bribe neighbors with them. Hoping to get a dozen a day and planning to add a few more pullets to the group as I want to breed the andalusians (which takes 4 layers out of the mix).

I have 50 on 10 acres (dense woods) I have 19 red sex link hens, and one male that are 7 months and 30 silver laced wyandottes 26 hens and 4 roos that are only 3 weeks old. we are a family of 5

2 hens, one in-town rental...

I'm one person on a 7,500 sq ft inner city lot. I have 13 chickens, which is really about 5 too many, but I adore each and every one.

I prefer organic feed, but it's getting expensive. I'm giving away too many eggs. A few eggs get sold, but I don't want to support a tiny little business. Eight chickens would be more than enough eggs, easier to support and house, more manageable destruction on the yard, and almost enough garden manure.

For now, I'm keeping all 13!

We have 3 full-grown hens (1 standard, 2 banties), and we live in the city with a garden that most on here would regard as being the size of a postage stamp, but is thought of as being on the large side of medium here.

Our little household has two people, but our eggs also go to other members of close family in other households (a further 3 people).

However, I must confess that we are not self-sufficient in eggs - we always have to buy eggs in the winter

I have 14 on a 5/8 acre small town I keep them in henhouse/pen on the wooded corner of my lot. We let them out from about 2.30 pm untill dark. On weekends we left them go in the morning. I have no problems with my neighbours when I have only hens. I have one rooster who has not yet begun to crow. In the past when my males get big I have had to eat them. It's a pitty as I love roosters. But you have keep the peace

Just me & my husband on 5 acres. Right now I have 28 hens; 2 roos & 14 chicks. I will keep the pullets from the group of chicks and replace some of my older hens.

Most of my eggs go to the food pantry & family. I have chickens because I enjoy having them around. My tv / gamer addicted husband has no interest in them. I joke that I could put an elephant in the backyard & it would take him months to notice it.
