Average meat from Live weight Question.

How do I calculate the average amount of meat I will get from the live weight of the chicken. Is there a percentage? For instance, if I have a 6 pound chicken, what would the average weight be after it is killed and processed?
 
It will be anywhere between about 60-80% depending on the bird. Sometimes less if you are doing a "dual" or "layer" breed, if feed was withheld, and depending on what you are keeping, ie feet, innards, neck and so on.
 
On a 6 lb bird you will get a 4.5 dressed bird. No neck or feet, all clean and ready to eat.

You can figure on about a 25-30% weight lose on your live to dress weights. That is if you with held fed for 24hrs prior to processing.
