Avian Flu & Guineas

It’s been one month since our one wild duck tested positive for HPAI. No other cases in our state. Thinking about setting the guineas loose this weekend… What criteria are everyone else using to set them free?

There have been no other cases here since last month, closest ones were the first 4 turkey farms abt 2 hrs away....hmm..maybe that's what attracted the bear last year? (also 2 hr away).
I've been letting all but Numi free range. Numi now goes in kennel during the day...and Brodie is always laying right outside of it. I think Mama's miffed to have someone else in her kennel; she keeps trying to peck at Numi.
I did strip out coop today and clean with bleach. For some reason this the first year I've had mice in their coop.
They do kill but don't eat them, but if mice are now a carrier, I needed to resolve that and clean up. Tore the inner ceiling I had made out bc there were nests up there. More ventilation-woot. Decided if R2 leaves a window open all winter, I'm not going to worry about it anymore. So anyway, took away entries and hiding places, jacked coop up so I could rake out bedding that had fallen through and fixed boards so that won't happen again (boards were askew from us moving coop a few months ago).. Need to screen the ridges of roofing.
Meanwhile, himself broke ground for new coop and has it about ready for concrete.
