I'm not sure if this is the place for this but my state, Alabama, just banned selling birds at flea markets because they found 3 confirmed case of avian flu :( not sure when the ban will be lifted, but it makes me sad! Checking out the livestock at the flea market has been part my life for along long time. I do understand the importance of not spreading this flu though!

Ok, I was just advised by an ornithologist, not to get chickens just yet.

Apparently, the flu is projected to hit the Northeast this Spring, and is currently an issue for local chicken peeps.

What's the real deal with this flu? Seems it hits an area pretty hard, then moves on.

One bird gets it, and the whole flock must be culled, and the neighbors birds are probably toast too.???????? oh boy.

Am I in a panic for no reason?, or do my neighbors need to be as concerned as i am?, as there are multiple flocks all around my town, and very nearby.

So, many questions, and not what I wanted to hear.
