I think on the Gold Spitzhaubens you may be referring to the seller as Ronscoops from Eggbid, those was the same birds, she used Ronscoops for a while.

She did email me today about the 2 Gold Hens, and she said the Hens both had Green Legs, so they were bred that way in the UK before she got them, now I really want to find more information on the Yorkshire Hornets. These birds are strikingly beautiful, and trying to find out what they truly are is my aim, then I'll decide how I'm going to go about breeding them, because they do now for sure have Spitzhauben in them. It'll be interesting seeing their first chicks for sure. One thing I did before getting eggs from her was I sent her Denagard to treat her breeders with before collecting eggs to send to me, and that does keep somethings from passing in the eggs, Mycoplasma was my major concern before finding out about this disease of the Spitzhaubens, so I went back to the Tiamutin site after finding out about it, and did a search, of the disease for information on the Tiamutin site, I did pull up 4 things from the site, so I'm really hoping this also made a difference and won't really know until I do test the pair I have, I posted the search I did, I copied and pasted it here. I am interested in finding out about the Hornets for 2 reasons, one is the Hens may have been Hornets or had Hornets in the breedings, and that breed is now listed as extinct, so could be remaking an extinct breed with its actual genetics or part of them, secondly since they do have Spitzhaubens in the breedings I may be able to sort out the white skinned birds with correct leg colors to keep breeding them as Gold Spitzhaubens, so it could go both ways if handled properly. I also am contacting a couple of other people that understand genetics because I truly only grasp so much, and someone with more knowledge will be abe to best advise me on what to look for and how to breed. I have not heard back from the UK photograher yet that lists having pictures of the Yorkshire Hornets, I may resend my email again, I would prefer to email, rather than phone overseas, so would really like to avoid that expense if possible. As I find out more information I'll post it here to keep everyone updated on what I find. Sorry for being so lengthy, I tend to leave no stone unturned.

Well I've received suggestions from a couple different people on what to do, I'm being told that I need outside blood, and that this will also help the Spitzhaubens for them being so Inbred, my one source says Inbred birds have little resistance and this will help to get past that.

I emailed David Hancox, and he suggests using Pencilled Hamburgs, genetics wise they are the same as Spitzhaubens without the cr or crest, and he says the Crest is dominant so should be easy to retain. And the other party that is helping me agrees with his suggestion. So now I'm looking for a pair of Gold Pencilled Hamburgs that are of breeding age, I'm going to try my Cousin first as he raises Gold Pencilled Hamburgs and see if he has anything available.

I am still researching finding the Book and have located an overseas source, and am waiting for them to contact me back.

Just wanted to pass along what I have been told like I said I would.

I have been corresponding with Victoria about cross-breeding also.

I am not a genetics expert, but my beardless gold Brabanters look exactly like gold Spitzhaubens. I would think a cross with them would work better than with a pencilled Hamberg...

Well I emailed David Hancox that I didn't think the Pencilled Hamburgs was the same pattern as the birds I have, and he sent me a message saying Old age and senility creeping in, that actually the Spangled Hamburgs would be better to use, so glad I didn't call my cousin last night.

Also, wish I could post what Barry Koffler just sent me on the Yorkshire Hornets, he had the book I was looking for, he sent me a picture of the birds and also a brief history, the picture is in black and white print, even in black and white print, I think you'll all agree that the leg color on the Yorkshire Hornets is not blue, I'm betting its yellow green just like I have in the pair of birds I have, so I'm re emailing David Hancox and also sending him the picture from Barry with the information and am going to ask him how I can go about getting Gold Spitzhaubens out of these birds and also recreating the Yorkshire Hornets in this country.

I talked to Ideal and Cackle in the last week. They tell me that they do not have Leukosis in their birds. Does anyone know differently?

When I talked to Ideal, the gal told me she'd been working there for over 20 years (hmmm, must be good employers), and she said they had Spitz before that. I asked her if she knew where they got their Spitzhaubens, and she didn't.

Does anyone know when Spitzhaubens came into the country?

My two that I had left (from Carla) were killed by a predator a year ago. I was distraught. Carla has beautiful birds, and she was just charming working with me. I kept getting smashed packages from the PO, and then eggs wouldn't hatch. She was really lovely to work with. I'm sorry that she has stopped sending eggs. I would have loved to get some from her again. Lovely lady, beautiful birds.
