Hello, i hope that im asking this in the right place. Im asking for a freind. He is building an aviary its 8ft tall 4ft wide and 6ft wide. He plans to keep a pair of budgies and a pair of teals and some coturnix quail. But he would like one more speceis he was wondering if he could do mandrin ducks? I hope this is the right place to post. He lives in southern florida so it climate wise is fine, he will bring in the budgies when extra hot or cold. Thanks.

It looks like Mandarin ducks need a decent sized aviary and a large pond which may not be safe for the other birds, especially the quail. It would also mean the ground would always be wet (as ducks are messy) which could cause health issues with the budgies and cockatiels who are from a very dry climate. The pond would also need a very good filtration system and would need to be drained and cleaned regularly to ensure it stayed clean. I'd be inclined to set up the ducks separately as their needs are quite different to regular aviary type birds.
