Howdy,
Per the members board, here is my (our) story. My wife (username-Jumar) has also registered on the boards.
Looking forward to a new aspect to our backyard "wildlife refuge", we have had a fascination with making our backyard a little oasis in the middle of the city.
Chickens have been on the list for years and due to overthinking the difficulty, we have refrained from jumping in completely.
Finally committed to three chicks and an overhaul to the side yard, very exciting and daunting!
We ended up with a mix of three breeds,
a Golden Buff, named Buff currently for her aptitude in being assertive and curious about all manner of escape routed from the brooder.
A Speckled Sussex named Beeker, for her constant and deft use of her beak.
A Blue Andalusian, no name yet, still trying to find her curious traits.
They appear to be of good disposition and production, were definitely looking forward to the general fun vibe of a new dynamic in the garden and hope they find our home to be a happy and loving place.
So we are now in the search for a coop and enclosed run design to install. Were pretty good with wood tool and have a pile of ideas to try out.
Always searching for info, we came across this forum and lurked a bit. We love the vibe and helpfulness so we jumped on board!

My wife and I and our dog Coby (chihuahua/cattledog mix, super obedient and respectful) live in Western Washington and have been here all our lives.
We love gardening, fly fishing, woodworking, kayaking, birdwatching, hiking, climbing, and generally anything that involves being outside and physical.
Thanks in advance for all the info and fun stories!

G'Day from down under Eyejuggler :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

The Kiddos & Big Brother are adorable! If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of them, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
