Silkies are defiantly the way to go in the way of friendliness so are frizzles and sizzles, good egg layer like White Leghorns, Minorca"s and Sex-Links are not so obliged to sit on your lap but if you hatch them and then raise them up and always cuddle and hold them then they should be truly friendly.
 
I agree. Our silkies are everyones kids favorite. They require very little extra work to become very very docile and super sweet. We have several, and all of them are darling birds. Now, if you put a roo in with non tamed birds as a youngster, he may become more normal attitude, but the girls seem to always be willing and ready for a good cuddle.

The higher strung breeds can be rascals. Some egg layers, like black australorps and buff orphingtons, can be very very nice with lettle extra work.

Nigel is a chocolate cuckoo orpington. He's about a year old. He's a great Rooster who take care of the flock, very considered ladies man and a reliable watchdog :)
