While feeding this afternoon, I saw 6 chicks and the male guarding them...he was showing them off to the neighboring pheasants! :D there's a gap between the two pens...the pheasants don't bother the quail.
Anyway, I didn't know they had a nest...after the first nest was destroyed by a snake. These pens are very brushy, so it's hard to even find a nest, let alone see the quail in the pen.
Here's a couple pics of what I could get with my phone. May have to enlarge to see the male and 2 chicks in the frame. You can see their tiny feet and toes sticking out from under Dad.

I love watching them raise their own young!
Yep, it's nice to have large, well landscaped pens for them to 'try' and be in a natural environment. Excellent for observing their behavior.
