Awesome surprise!

Just wonderful Sean they do appear as one pair a male a female
It's really too soon to tell but their mannerisms are what I'm going by right now. When you have raised thousands of birds, you tend to pickup on the subtle nuances of the genders...so this is what I'm judging the genders on at this time.

UPDATE:

The chicks are 6 weeks old today. Suppose to have showers and turn cooler tonight...another 'test', they haven't really been exposed to a hard rain, just a light shower. They are feathering out nicely, almost can determine sex but not quite there yet! I'm thinking 1 is male the other female but really won't be for sure for a few more weeks.
A few pics and a short, boring video!

They just get prettier each time you post 😊 the coloring lovely!

While feeding this afternoon, I saw 6 chicks and the male guarding them...he was showing them off to the neighboring pheasants! :D there's a gap between the two pens...the pheasants don't bother the quail.
Anyway, I didn't know they had a nest...after the first nest was destroyed by a snake. These pens are very brushy, so it's hard to even find a nest, let alone see the quail in the pen.
Here's a couple pics of what I could get with my phone. May have to enlarge to see the male and 2 chicks in the frame. You can see their tiny feet and toes sticking out from under Dad.
