Awesome surprise!

Oh my goodness, they are so cute 😍 how many did you end up with?
They are down to 2 now. Some folks might not agree with me and my method of rearing these chicks but it isn't much different from what wild quail have to go through in raising their young...just a smaller range but more food than they would find in the wild. Survival rates on wild quail is horrendous!
I also enjoy studying their behaviors in a well landscaped enclosure...they behave more like wild quail in such a setting.

Its sad that you only have 2 left, but your doing it the way you want and learning as you go so that's what matters 😊 not what others feel is the right or wrong way 🤷 just my opinion.

Your absolutely right, Sue. I've raised thousands of quail over the years but have never let them raise their own...so it is a new experince and learning opportunity.

I look forward to watching them grow through your experiences 😉
Thanks Sue, I hope they survive to maturity, too! They are much stronger than if I had put them in a brooder and raised them myself. I just wished that they had hatched out in the spring, instead of the fall.

I understand that, every time we do a late hatch for someone, it ends badly.

Best of luck with the two little ones 🤗

Sean you are quite alike that way bud love watching the quail in your videos
as kid we watched many a Hen rear chicks bring them back.. Some wonder why my birds are not pets I let them be what they are
None of my birds are pets either...I did keep the two pair in the house for about 2 years before I put them in that pen but they aren't and never were pets.
