Awesome surprise!

So this answer is a huge question for me about quail because a lot of people say that they will not hatch their own chicks... thanks for sharing
They will if given the proper habitat and they still have enough of their instincts still intact.

I also have a quail that is free ranging on my property and has not left my property 🤣 it free ranges with my flock of six chickens that fly over the 8 foot fence
I also have a Reeves pheasant that has been on it's own for over 2 years now! He escaped along with a couple of Red Goldens and a Reeves hen. The Goldens disappeared in 1 night. The Reeves hen made it for almost a year before disappearing. They were all about 3 months old when they escaped. Here's a few pics of the male Reeves, escapee! :D his tail feathers are over 6' long. Pics taken this morning. He goes over to my neighbors place (looking for a hand out) my neighbor asked me about him and found out they originally come from China....so he named him Corona! :lau

Is this the one that was chasing your four wheeler that I died laughing at for about three months 😂

The Coturnix quail that is free range in our yard likes to tease the dogs.

I did catch it the other day and I was going to put it with all the other quail, but when I opened up the door for the chicken yard, the chickens decided that the decoration on my sweatpants was something that they could bite...So now I have a bunch of bruises on my legs because of the chickens and all they did was put the quail over the 8 foot fence, but it decided that he didn’t want to be there

They are beautiful birds Sean just Beautiful
Thanks Penny. I'm torn between leaving him stay unconfined and trying to get him back into a pen....just doesn't seem fair after 2 years of freedom.
He would be a excellent breeder bird.

Update:
The chicks and Dad are doing just fine. The chicks are still terrorizing the neighbors.... (pheasants) Dad is still protective and ever viligent.
The littles are 4 weeks old today. Having a great time chasing bugs, dust bathing and sun bathing. They have 'learned' they have wings! :D Weather hadn't been too inclimate, temps have been in the 40's for lows and high's of 76 to 80°F.
