I also let the possums be.
In my experience they are far less determined or destructive compared to raccoons, so a tight coop keeps my birdies safe from them.

I had one in my barn a few years back, couldn't get into the animal pens but he gave the the scare of a lifetime because I didn't realize he was there until he ran right by me...lol...I screamed like a little girl, when it got to the door he turned to look at me and then ran off. He never did come back. then again the dogs keep pretty much everything away from here.
