I have this Ayam Cemani that was the only one to hatch about 6 weeks ago. So I have nothing to compare it to. I looked at its wings at a day old (staggard feathering) and then laid it on its back (Stopped moving almost instantly) to try and determine the sex and thought it was a girl. Then I learned you cannot sex Cemani's and now I am unsure.

I have another clutch of 15 in the incubator and will need to eventually sex those as well. They are not mine, but as payment for hating them I get to keep one of each. So Im trying to learn what exactly I am looking for. I have scoured threads and google and the comb is not as big as others I've seen, but not as small either. Is there anything else I can look for aside from feathers around 16 wks? It determines if I am able to keep it over the next week, or if it will be going back to the person who is having me hatch the eggs. I dont want to introduce it to my current flock if they will just have to leave shortly after. Rooster I keep, pullet goes back to him and ill get to keep a pullet from this up coming batch.

I know her feathers look more gray, but I have to turn on every light in my house and turn on the flash to get my camera to recognize that there is something there.

They are tougher to sex, especially if you only have one. I have some pics from my 5-6 week old AC. I’ll post them in a few. I ended up with 2 roosters and 2 pullets.

Second pic has roosters (far left and bottom birds) and the hens, respectively. Birds hatched 7/4. Pic taken 8/3. If I had to guess, I would anecdotally guess rooster for your little one.

Third pics and beyond are the same birds today…about 2 months and 12 days old. Comb size seems to become quickly apparent on these birds around 45 days.

Thank you for the pictures! Ill have to get another pic, but i did see the two hens that the egg came from and while their combs aren't huge they are bigger than the other hens of other breeds he has in the other runs. I still am not sure as theirs is not as big or as tall as in your pictures its almost a perfect middle.

If anyone told me a chicken would give me a run for my mine a year ago, I would of told them to tell me another lie. haha

Thank you soo much for the pictures tho, because I have another batch of 13 that should be hatching this week.
