Ayam Cemani Hen’s wing is down, and she steps on it, what can I do to help?

Hello,

My Ayam Cemani Hen, Maddi has been dragging one of her wings for a couple days now. I am pretty sure that she injured herself from coming down from her coop or something. She has always been interesting (squinty eyes, not the best balance), so it only makes sense that she fell off. But now her wing hangs and she steps on it. I don’t know but can chickens be immune to pain because she still tries to climb on a chair but falls off on her wing. She then gets up and walks like nothing happens. Is there anything that I can do to help her wing get better? She eats and drinks normal, and still tries to run after her flock, but she is dragging and stepping on her wing.

That could be it… is there anything I could do to help her? It doesn’t seem to be causing her pain.

She moves around and walks and eats and plays, she just trips on her wing a lot.

I had a hen like that, I tried to make a sling out of a stretch-y sweatshirt sleeve, but that made it worse. She got depressed and slept low in the coop. I gave her a rooster chick that was 4 weeks old that didn't have a mom, soon she forgot about the wing and it healed.

Oh how interesting.. My girl is about 4 months old so i’m not sure if she would want to take in a chick yet.

Though she does seem a little depressed but she still wants to fly up on her coop. I don’t like it when she does though because of her wing and she is just naturally unbalanced, so she falls on her wing when she comes down. Today, I saw her on the coop and then came down on her wing. I am scared she will re-injure it. But based off of your experiences, I will not use a splint.

UPDATE - the ayam cemani hen is doing worse. She is a lot more depressed and isn’t her usual self. What can I do? I am pretty sure it’s her wing, but how can I help it? I have already lost 3 chickens in 2 months and don’t want to lose another.

She has also has worse balance. She is also “puffy”.
