I dont want any roosters and this one has me baffled, it crowed yesterday, a feeble crow but a crow just the same. 8 weeks old, ayem cemani father, olive egger hen (silver/blue colored) hatched from a green egg.
i've had suspicions of this little diamond being a neal and i dont want to rehome him if it's her.
hopefully someone can help me to be sure. I even caught it in mid crow lol

If the chick is really crowing at age 8 weeks, then it's definitely a male.

i dont want to rehome him if it's her.
hopefully someone can help me to be sure.
From the appearance, I might have thought that bird was a female

You could try to get a video of the crowing, if you want someone to double-check.

Sometimes pullets make sounds that get mistaken for crowing, like in this recent thread:

i dont know if this will work or not but this is the video i posted on facebook
Yes, I think you do have a male there. That's a pretty clear crow.

And as he moves around in the video, I see that his comb is larger than I had realized in the still photos. At first the color was mixing me up (because I expect cockerels to have red combs by the time they crow), but then I remembered that he has the black skin from Ayam Cemani, so of course the comb does not show red.

it's more of a maroon color when you look at him with the naked eye. he's a beautiful little guy and i really wish i liked roosters but, he'll have a great life with the gal that contacted me. he'll have his own little harem of 14 girls his age ;) thank you so much for helping with this.

it looks like it’s working now. It wasn’t before. But your name is showing if that matters to you.
no, not really. I changed it to public so that hopefully it would show up here. hopefully there are no creepers here?? lol
