Thanks to everybody for your input. I'm relieved that they are Wyandottes as that is what I've called them for 2 years now. I know they've had something mixed in with them as Wyandottes do not come in crele color. But they are really beautiful, sweet birds so I will be keeping them and continue breeding them. It's still a mystery to me where that 5th toe is coming from though. Maybe at some point a crele dorking was added into the mix to get the color?
do you have any other pics of their feet/toes?
as for crele dorkings, I have been searching but can't seem to find anyone breeding them in the US. however cuckoo is found in the us, and the barred mutation is the same in both cases. crele is simply barring, with slower feathering than cuckoo, on a bbr bird. that's a simplified description maybe, but in a nutshell. barring on a rapid feathering bird results in shades of greys (not-quite white to not-quite black), where barring on a slow feathering bird results in more defined bands of white and black with little grey between. (again, that's my take on it).
agreed they are pretty, and someone trying to recreate the bantam dorkings in other varieties might find them interesting enough to incorporate into a line. dunno.
