B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Greenhorn, we just published our ordering information online for the 2013 season, but honestly, I don't think you need another order of chicks. In your stead I'd just hatch from the best few that you have. You know there's always a source here, but you have plenty of genes over there. I'd take the extra money and put it towards your incubators.
I just got to thinking since my incubator skills are less than proven might be a good idea to order a batch of chicks from you just in case. Went to your site and you are sold out already. Congrats on the fast sell out. Guess I should have acted sooner wow.

Well it's hatch day (reptipro) and so far we have 2 new white dorking chicks. Two is about as many as we usually get. I think once we got three eggs to hatch. Anyway the two the we do have look healthy and have 5 good looking toes on each foot. When they dry maybe i'll be able to notice more.

My first dorking chicks from eggs, wooohooo!

They'll be fine, perhaps a couple hours late. Being cooled is much less dangerous than being overheated.

Thanks! I am SO hoping for a decent hatch. I've heard that going down in temp for a while is much better than having it spike, so that's what I am hanging my heart on. It kills me that I am at work and the generator is running all by itself. but my mom said that on the mountain (45 minutes from us) they got 24" so I should be thrilled that we only got 8"!

Just maintain proper humidity and open the incubator only if you have to to add liquid. Certainly don't open it to take out chicks! Just leave them be and watch your humidity. If they're just hatching now (Thursday AM), take them out at the earliest Friday late PM or Saturday AM.
