B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

The 11 are doing great, got some pasty butt that I am dealing with, but otherwise all is well.

I am feeding the 12th by syringe with electrolytes hoping it pulls through.

Very happy the 11 are doing good & hope #12 makes it. I will be getting my 12 Red Dorking chicks from Mr Horstman in a few weeks.

Was saying he'd ship them this week; but, I've not heard from him so - it could be a while longer. I know he has a pretty good sized waiting list, so I'll just be happy to get them at all.

I just got a email from Dick Horstman letting me know that he was shooting for the week of the 15th of April to ship my Red Dorkings. I am very much looking forward to getting the Red Dorking chicks from Mr Horstman.

You will love them. Mine are from Mr. Horstman, although I went with the hatching egg route to get them, and I couldn't be happier with them.

That second rooster looks big!! Any idea how much they weigh? The sheen on your birds is beautiful!

I haven't tried weighing them yet. They have just started filling out over the past 6 weeks. I can tell you that they are the second heaviest roosters out there right behind my LF Dark Cornish. I was really very surprised the last time I picked them up to feel how much they weighed.

I emailed Rudy Troxel about a week ago and got on his waiting list for more hatching eggs for the Red Dorkings. I put my best Rooster and my lone hen in the breeding pen over the weekend hoping to get a few eggs to put into the incubator as well. Fingers are crossed that I can substantially increase my flock of them this year.

Also, I have posted pics of all my 2013 breeding Dorkings here on BYC - can someone here help me figure out how to post a link to that album? Still learning the tricks of the thread....
