Murray McMurray has breeding and blood line and papers. Request a catalog from them I am thrilled with the way they have been treating us and ours come with breeding papers.

What kind of breeding papers? Never heard of that.

Hmmmm...sounds like gimmick to me. VERY few lines of birds are actually pedigreed. This is actually the reason for the SOP and the insistence on type. SOP type and not pedigree per se define a bird.

It IS a gimmick. It fools a lot of people though, I have friends who will NEVER be persuaded their MMM birds are just production type. They have the "papers" , so, they must be good , right?

I is my understanding they certify they are pure Dorking, other than that that they are healthy.
beyond that I have to wait until I get them. I will take pictures and give as much info as I can about it. The paper is not where my focus for buying Dorkings, it is however their temp tolerance and egg and meat. The name helped... our neighbors don't have them and the are beautiful..
The hatchery came highly recommended from a neighbor. I told her I wanted Dorking chickens and well...

Yeah again I really didn't care about the papers.as I was checking out I saw it. So as long as they are Silver Grey Dorkings I am happy. That as long as this hatchery stands by their chicken's, they are healthy and just a little thing...live..lay eggs ya know I am happy. I have no personal intention to bread for sale or show. I just want healthy producing chickens...so your saying mmm is not a good hatchery? Oh dear we have 15chicks coming...:/

I don't think they are not a good hatchery, just that they are a hatchery. The chickens I have seen from them (generally speaking, I have not seen any of their dorkings) seem to be big and healthy. We did order some from them one time that seemed to have had an especially rough trip, but they fully stood behind them and made the losses we had good. Since no one can totally control shipping conditions, I believe that speaks favorably for them.) the birds they have may not be BQ or SQ (and I have no idea where they get their dorkings) but for hatchery quality I think they are pretty good in general. Just my experience though.

They are fine for a start.Don't worry. Some people, especially in the eastern US, have received some nice Dorkings from them. I tried getting some, last year, and most of them died. The replacements also doa, but I'm on the west coast.

My comment was directed at your statement about breeding papers on chickens. Never heard of such a thing- especially from a hatchery.
