Now, if the man would just send my eggs

He's been having fertility issues and doesn't want to ship with low fertility rate. I can understand that. But, I'm pouting anyway cuz I really am looking forward to getting some of his eggs....when he can send them.

Geez the post office can't locate my pair of red dorking breeders that Rudy shipped out yesterday via express mail . I was hoping to have them before this stagnant afternoon heat!!!

I've called local branch and main branch. I will call again when the shift changes at 3pm.

CRAP!!

sorry to hear it...I have heard a lot of stories like this lately, unfortunately. not sure why. maybe I just don't hear about the ones where they arrive exactly as planned...

I finally got my Dorking coop done! (well, serviceable anyway) I want to paint a sign for it that says: "DORKHAUS" in mission style lettering.

well, after I get the shingles on and paint it. wish I knew how long I had to let pressure treated sit before painting.

Coopula Coop

Thank you --- I'm sure it was dry ice or something like that but still frustrating. I called the express guys at the hub, and they assured me they would call me if they showed up before morning.

I am very disappointed to say that I will not be getting the Red Dorking from Dick Horstman. But I am very happy to be getting another one of his high quality breeds the Silver Penciled Rocks.

I thought express mail had tracking numbers, and therefore the package could be located at any time (assuming the label hasn't fallen off). Even if they were put on the wrong plane/truck, as soon as they arrive at the wrong destination the label will be scanned and the mistake caught. At least that's how it's supposed to work. Please keep us updated.

Regarding shipping chicks via express mail, I have had chicks shipped in twice, and I have been VERY impressed with the post office. The first time the chicks arrived right on time, and I was called immediately (at 4 a.m., as requested). The employee let me in the office before opening so the chicks could be claimed and taken home to the brooder ASAP. The second time was even more impressive. A supervisor from the main hub called me at 10 a.m. the day before scheduled arrival. He said that the chicks had just arrived, but the truck to my local post office had left in the wee hours of the morning. He said I had three choices -- I could have them delivered to my local PO tomorrow as scheduled, or I could drive to the regional PO to pick them up today (about 2 hours away), or he could take them with him to a nearby PO where he had a lunch meeting and I could pick them up there today. I couldn't believe that this supervisor had taken the time to call me before he left for his meeting, and was willing to transport the chicks himself just so I could get them a day early. As it happened, I was planning to go to that nearby town that day anyway, so his offer was perfect. Sometimes people really do go the extra distance to do the right thing. And each time all 27 chicks arrived vigorous and healthy and hungry.

Express mail does have tracking numbers. However FedEx does the actual shipping of live birds (hatchery chicks being the exception). Until they are delivered to the sorting facility and checked back in the USPS won't be able to find them. And if you call FedEx they will just tell you to call the USPS. It is very frustrating. It happened to 2 of the 4 shipments I sent out last fall.
