B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Do you ask out of curiosity, or do you have a source? Have you looked into it yet? Typically the UK breeders aren't anxious to export to the U.S., and the paperwork for direct importation is said to be a major roadblock. I have been told, but do not know if this is true, that importation into Canada from the U.K. is easier, so perhaps a route from the U.K to Canada to the U.S. would be the easiest option, if willing breeders and other participants could be located.

#1, don't think its legal, #2 the shipping would probably scramble them hopelessly even if they were snuck in.

if you HAVE a source, I might know someone in canada who would incubate if I asked nice enough. 8)

it still isn't legal. even if they are willing to ship you could get in big trouble.
They are import friendly countries. It is legal if you follow the legal process. It involves vet clearances, forms and etc.

The problem is the need to have someone willing to work with the importer by clearing the requirements in the country that they come from.

It is not possible to get eggs from import un friendly countries like Indonesia.

The Penedesenca club is working on a legal import from Spain. There are people willing to do the work over there so it will likely happen.

Green Fire Farms imports chickens all the time from import friendly Countries. Hatching eggs have less requirements.

Sorry, I should have said all that. I got the impression (perhaps wrongly) that he/she was just going to have someone drop ship him some eggs or hand carry on a plane, without going through all the legalities.

That makes sense!

I have seen nice Dorking and other hatching eggs for sale on the UK Ebay When you check into it, they will not sell them to people in the United States.

Online Breeder pages are the same way.

The biggest reason for not importing Dorkings though is that they are not really much better any where else. It is better to work with what we have her already.

So far I've gotten one in each hatch, the rest of the chicks being yellow at hatch.
A couple shots of 2 of the chicks:
