B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

We just got two 12 week old dorking pullets on Saturday. I'm already completely in love with Harriet and Hazel and they are so funny to watch scratching around in the dirt

Congratulations! I really enjoy my dorkings!

Hi Kim, I haven't taken many of my dorks, will see what I can find and post later. Perhaps I will take some new pictures and post later.
Thanks!
Nancy

I have heard that P Allen Smith will have some reds available at the show in Knoxville this weekend. the info was posted on the Dorking FB group...

I am looking to begin a flock of dorkings this spring with the intent of breeding them. They seem to be the best bird for the job, as I'm looking for a dual purpose bird that is in need of preservation. From what I have heard they are hardy, family friendly, good foragers and tolerant of heat and cold.
I would love input on where to acquire good stock to start with. I prefer not to purchase from a hatchery. I toyed with the idea of sandhill preservation, but am not a huge fan of shipping chicks. I am open to purchasing eggs, or traveling to pick up the birds within a 500ish mile radius of Oklahoma City. I am more drawn to the silver, but open to other colors. Thanks in advance for any input!
There is a Dorking Club USA facebook group is open to everyone to join and you might find someone there who has Silver Grey chicks https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/224639315913/

Also, I recently ordered Red Dorking chicks from Jim Hall https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.815325935145419.1073741856.375513002460050&type=3 Jim posted on Dorking Club USA facebook that he is taking presale orders so I jumped on it and ordered. I’m very excited and look forward to having Red Dorkings as well as Silver Greys.
