B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Cool I have maybe another year and then I will need to replace my layers since they will be slowing down I would love to get some Dorkings they are such amazing looking birds. NH is definitely close too maybe depending on distance I might be able to pick the eggs up as well rather than having them shipped imagine the possibilities.

Yellow House Farm is also in NH and has some amazing looking whites. 8) if/when we get up home to maine this summer i might see if we can detour and pick up a few here and there along our way.

At this rate we should start a NH Dorking club...

Let us know when you are in Maine, maybe we can plan a get together for all the local Dokring folks.

Well, the temps here in AK have warmed up to the mid-30s for the last week or so, and everyone is happy, if a little muddy. I spent the entire day, literally, cleaning pens and coops, and then segregated the birds to see who was left after our "mishap" this winter. I'm happy to say I have two Dorking pens segregated... one pen is all Silver Greys, the other has two Red hens under a SG roo. 9 birds total, which is better than I can say for my BCMs (only two hens left). I'm happy to have this many left. :)

I'm so glad to hear that you have some Dorkings left. Best wishes for the coming year!

I think sewandgrow, in Turlock CA, is downsizing on her BCMs.

Quick question

A friend is going to order chicks with me........I am getting Dorkings ( silver grey) and she is getting Buff Orphantons. Will we be able to tell them apart when they get here? Are all silver grey Dorking chicks dark in color with darker spots?

Thanks
Lisa

yes you should be able to tell them apart. sg dorkings will be buff(ish) base color with dark stripes on the back and a wider strip going up the back of the head. the orpingtons should be solid buff color with no other markings.
