B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

I am trying to find some dorking for a backyard flock. Does anyone have some for sale or do you know of a place to go?

My Dorkings just started laying well, and I have trouble with them wanting to lay in the dirt too.  I'll try making the nest boxes darker.  Thanks.  I also have a question.  My eggs were very fertile and hatched well for a time, and now, none of them are developing.  I also got some Dorking eggs from a friend and they are not developing either.  I would suspect an incubator problem, but the other chicken eggs are doing fine.  Is there some kind of seasonal fertility with Dorkings?

If you have some eggs developing and hatching well then it is obviously NOT an incubator problem. The Red Dorkings I work with are lazy butts. Started off the season OK then fertility went to crap. Out of three mature males two became completely infertile due to lack of activity.

DD's taking 4 SG Dorkings to the Virginia Poultry Breeders Association show tomorrow, a cockerel and 3 pullets. Last year hers were the only Dorkings there. If any of you happen to be there, look us up!

I learned this week that the livestock manager at the Virginia Museum of American Frontier Culture is working with colored Dorkings for the museum grounds, if anyone in the mid-Atlantic area is looking for those. You can PM me for his contact information.

So are the Red's really that much of a problem with fertility? The eggs I purchased last season were real hit and miss with fertility. I have 5 Red Dorking roosters right now and I am afraid to cull any with the thought of fertility coming into play. The girls are starting to lay really well now at 6 and 7 months. I have my first eggs in the incubator but also some under a hen.

Thanks for the reply. We are in Huntsville, AL (Northern Alabama).
I would prefer someone fairly close by but I am ok with shipping as well. I am looking for 1-10 weeks old.
