I went with 2x4's because I couldn't get 1x's to seat well as the louvers. I left a nice 6" space at the top and there is 2" between each one- so plenty of ventilation I think. Thanks!

Cupola done! Woohoo. Front porch and 6x6 posts stained, A lot of stuff painted you can't see like the rafter tails and under sides of the rafters, etc. Tomorrow will be a fun day, I am certain I will get the entire roof done. Then on to the fun stuff like siding and doors!

One of my hens above looked at me and said "this is mine, right"? And I said patience! These things take some time. And then I realized I was talking to a hen and decided it was time to call it a day.

I have a roof! Just in time for 2 days of rain and thunderstorms... can't say I mind I kind of need a break ha!

I'm so happy all the high, off the ground stuff is done. It just takes twice as long to do anything. I also realized I should pre-paint anything off the ground before I put it up there! haha. Painting the underside of roof decking on the overhangs was not fun. Oh well, live and learn!

They're a 3-foot wide steel panel.

And @aart I got the ridge on today.

Rain held off until the afternoon, so I had some fun and installed my roosts. Each of the beams are super hard Hickory, 88" long. I was going to go with straight ones but everything is so formal with this house I wanted something informal, and the roosts seemed like the right thing!

These roosts are 88" long each.

What can you tell us about the floor? Looks like 1/2 inch HWC.
