Babies have arrived! Pics! And now with video!

It's definitely interesting watching them interact. One of the big ducks (Poke) decided to charge the group and run over the top of them. Sent everyone flying, and rolled a couple of them over. I don't think this is going to be easy.
why would Poke do that? Is it dominance? Were the little ones OK? You are right, it won't be easy.

I'm assuming it's a dominance thing. Nobody was hurt, and Pepper immediately turned around and chased Poke back to the other side of the pen. I'm supervising them pretty closely and ready to step in if anyone gets too aggressive. I'll give them another try out there today, and see what happens.

Google auto-awesomed my picture for me!

This is earlier today. We're teaching the dogs to not freak out around the ducks, and the ducks to not be concerned about the dogs. I think it's working.

Beautiful!! My ducks don't seem to mind the dogs much, but the dogs really want to "pet" the ducks. <wink, wink> I've kept them separated, and let the dogs sniff the ducks while I'm holding one. But when they run back and forth in the run, the dog runs back and forth along side, outside the run. Its kinda cute, and I think one of the ducks instigates it! I will be curious to see how it progresses as the ducks get bigger.

Mine can be a bit... excitable. They REALLY want to herd those ducks.

This is the video before I made everyone lay down and calm down. You can see the dogs running in the background.

Glad nobody was hurt and good for Pepper. She sounds like a feisty little duck bird. Keep us posted on the behaviors. Sometimes I think birds are violent, not like people per se, but mine get into scuffles and there's feathers everywhere. I hate it.

She's definitely my favorite. Even though you're not supposed to have a favorite. I like her attitude. And yes, I hate it when they decide to fight. I haven't had TOO many problems with the birds yet, but my dogs... they love each other to bits, but they fight like little kids.

the chirping and running around is cute. They are fast. I think I heard wind chimes in the background.
