how old do the young peas need to be before i put them with the adult peas? in the same pen are ringnecks and bobwhites.

I don't have an answer for this, but would like to hear some opinions on this as well. I've two yearlings and two 12 week olds. I'm waiting for them to be old enough to be on the ground, but would like to know when most introduce young to older birds.

Thanks lobo307 for raising the question.

What time of the year would be at the end of the breeding season... if you chicks are old enough to have their feathers in for surviving winter (if your winter is bad like ours). I wouldn't put them in with adult adult peas until they're a year, but I'm sure it CAN be done sooner. I just wouldn't feel comfortable about the size difference.

i am in central s.c. only one adult peafowl (approx 1.5 y/o) in the large flight pen that is 20x50x12. the babies are about 4 months old standing approx. 16-18 inches tall. breeding season for the pheasants seems to be over.

At four months they should have a pretty decent set of feathers. And really a 1.5 year old is still pretty young, and since it's just the one, I would give it a go for introducing them. You might try penning the little ones inside a smaller pen inside the larger pen first, to see what your older one thinks and so they get visual contact first.

Don't make a separate cage. Birdboy is young and likes to drop by threads and say inane things that usually make little to no sense.

I too was going through this problem. I am no longer going to get my new birds as for I got some chicks, and their mom will NOT let me catch her so for now they are mine

And yes I would put them in a seperate cage inside the big cage before actually putting them in their. Watch them for a few hours and makes sure there is no fighting through the wire.
