I have a hit on a few "starter" babies, my first babies ... might be a good valentines day for me....

My Simon will kill me of course... we still have freezing temperatures but I have everything I need for in the house so I can't imagine the problem!

If your brooding in the house what are you planning to use for bedding? I ask because I brooded in the garage last year with shavings for bedding and it was a big dusty mess in there. That was 20 chicks though so if you're only getting a few it might not be so bad. I am going to use pine pellets next time though because they are supposed to be a lot less dusty.

Enjoy your new fuzzy butts! That sounds like the BEST V-day present!!

I currently have 2 call duck drakes in my brooder until I build them a home. They are on shavings and they are way messier than my last chicks were! I have an old curtain over the top and sides to minimize the dust and it works great. I'll do it with the new chicks too, to avoid coating my living room in a fine layer of dust again!

ooh, good point. I was going to have them in my workshop but I would still keep that in mind... thanks!

And this IS the best V-day present ever!!

on their little perch... never too soon to start them! Had to build up the cardboard.... never knew that a cat's arm could stretch so far.... he was knocking them off the perch! lol
