Sounds like me, I almost never hatched any unless I had space for them here. Considering that I sent quaillady over 30 buttons and still have 14 left, I think I was a bit 'heavy'
I have tried to put the male back; moved around everything in the cage and everything. The female was less than pleased about it. I didn't really have a chance to see if he would be aggressive or not, she just kept relentlessly chasing him around trying to pull out feathers. Soooo for now I think his little 40g tank will have to remain his home.
The babies grow even faster than I thought they would! I'm hoping I manage find good homes for all these guys. I hadn't exactly "planned" for them, I was more just curious to see if they would hatch their own eggs. Thankfully, I run a fish rescue so I have oodles of fish tanks just kicking around waiting to be used. So if I have to hold on to them for awhile its not a huge deal. But I'm definitely thinking I probably won't let them have babies again. They are super cute, and fun to watch but I doubt I'll be able to continually find homes for the new broods.
Here's some updated pics of them, the quality is not as good as before. They are getting much faster, and my ISO setting on my camera is not the greatest haha!
They are my finches (Red Cheeked Cordon Bleu's). Their cage is latched to one side of the aquarium the Button Quails are in, so it empties into it. But the finches really like to come down and hang out with the Buttons for whatever reason.
