Just yesterday one of my 3 baby chicks went missing without a trace, the very next day which is the day this was posted, the 2nd baby chick was missing as well with NO trace when I arrived from school. Desperate I decided to start raising the 3rd baby chick in a cage until it gets reasonably big. Hours later I come to check on the little gal/guy and I see a red spot on the back of its head with its skin missing. The baby chick is still acting like normal but I'm worried it could become infected. What should I do to help such a wound heal? There is NO BLOOD, only a red patch of missing skin, which I found in the grass. This week has been very stressful.. I'll include the best pictures I can take, if you would like more pictures of specific angles just make a request an I'll take the best pictures.

Clean it with weak betadine and apply Neosporin or other brand ointmentdaily or twice a day. You need to make sure the cage has 1/2 hardware cloth wire to keep rats or other predators out, or bring it inside.

I had a chick survive a hawk attack, scalped from back of head to top of wing and she survived with lots of Neosporin and T.L.C.! Good luck!
