Baby Chick Drinker

You have to figure out the height to where they can reach the water and not kick too much in. Only a thin layer of shavings are needed and you can have even less where the waterer is. After a week or so I switch to straw and only a little.
It didn't matter if I had less shaving near the waterer. They were crazy little scratchers and shot shaving every which way. Had a blast doing it too.
The baby bottle I made worked very well and was so easy to do. It is something that I will keep for when I have chicks again. As I mentioned, I still use it. The girls go to it when they are too darn lazy to go to the big waterer in the coop! Or if I want to put supplements in it and leave the main waterer plain water.

I suppose it might depend on how many chicks you have, how big of a brooder they’re in and just how much bedding material is being used. I’ve raised over a thousand chicks at least and it’s never been a problem. To be honest checking on chicks once a day isn’t too much to ask anyway. You should clean the bedding out every couple of days regardless.
