So I have noticed that a chick that we had hatch on this Saturday at around 5pm and put in the broader today seems to have balance issues. When it hits any sort of uneven ground it tends to stumble and fall on its back. It cannot seem to get back on its feet without a nudge from a finger. It is eating fine, and it is walking normal. It has yet to drink but I understand that it is normal for such a young chick not to drink for a day or two after hatching. I have dipped it beak in the water gentle though. Is the falling on its back when walking on uneven ground normal as well?

This is the first time I have hatched chicks.

I just hatched a chicks month ago that had this same issue. The poor little thing kept flopping over and getting himself caught in places.
I separated him with one other chick and put him in the kitchen so I could keep an eye on him. I also bought "save-a-chick" electrolytes and something called Ultra Kibble. After a few days, he stopped flopping! I put him back with the other 4 and now I can't tell which one he was!

Thanks, I put some electrolyte with probiotics in the water they drink last night. It sounds like I just need to give it some time.

Is your chick doing any better?
Here's a pic of him.
