Yes maybe it will heal on its on...when he put the chick in my box I didn't see it because at the time his hand was covering it up.....live and learn....

Thank you RodNTN but this morning doesn't look like she's going to make it...all the other chicks are busy eating and drinking and she won't get out from under the heater...I sure hope he does! Praying for the little guy!![]()
Good morning, just wanted to say that birds don't have umbilical cords. They have an area in the abdomen area that is where the egg yolk feeds into their "stomach". this hole heals up in usually less than 24 hours after they hatch. The healing occurs as their body absorbs the remainder of the yolk.One of my chicks had something that looked like this and it turned out to be the umbilical cord. It eventually falls off if that’s what it is.
