I got some baby chicks from Ideal Thursday. They were all doing good even this morning when I cleaned thier brooder. I left forva couple hours and when I came back, one of the either Production Blacks, or my Jerset Giants is just laying there.
Is there anything I can do? They look to be about a week old because they have feathers on thier wings. I am feeding medicated chick feed. Should I get some Nutridrench?

How warm is your brooder with a thermometer? Get it drinking right away by dipping it’s beak for a second over and over. Is there any poop stuck to it’s vent? Is it gasping or lethargic? Take a little chick feed and wet it with warm water and offer it. If someone else can go some NutriDrench or Poultry Cell, that would be good. Give a drop or two.

Too late. It just died. I dont understand how it went from running around to dead in a matter of hours. It felt cold when I came home to find it laying there. It did not have poop stuck to it. I did try to give it water but it didnt want any. The thermometer reads 90 so its not too hot either. Darn it.

So sorry that you lost her. Have a look at the others to make sure they are eating and drinking. I would get the Poultry Nutridrench, or get some Gatorade or Pedialyte if you have it. The PND dosage is a couple of drops. Or you can dip beaks into the other electrolytes or plain water. There could have been a problem with the one chick, but if they suffered shipping stress, there may be more who have problems. Hopefully not, but make sure they are all drinking.
