My baby chick is not drinking from her water bowl. She will drink from my finger if I dip that in her water and hold it to her but she will not drink from her water. I have tried holding her up to the bowl, dipping her nose in it but she still refuses and freaks out. Any tips and tricks to this?

How old are they? Are the other chicks drinking? Did you hatch them or buy them? Have you tried putting marbles in the dish?
She is three days old, we hatched her And she was he first of her batch to hatch, and the other eggs are currently pipping, so sadly just her, and we have marbles currently in the bowl

And when I hold her up to the water she panics and jumps away

I’m also really worried because I don’t Want her getting dehydrated

I would just dip her beak in once and walk away. She'll drink when she's thirsty. Unless you're actually watching her every moment of the day, I bet she's been taking sips when she needs to.
Okay, thank you. This is my first time raising chicks and I was so worried lol

when you dipped the beak into the water, did she then lift her head and swallow? Even if she freaked out as long as she swallowed some water she should come back to it once she is thirsty again.

The only thing I can think of is that the marbles could be freaking her out. Try giving an additional bowl, I use the lids of old vitamin containers or plant saucers - they can be kicked over easily but you just want the chick to learn how to drink initially, after it has learnt you can then move to the marble waterer.

Did you hatch them in an incubator?
