Ok i have several baby chicks and suddenly at age 3.5 weeks, they started getting sick. Your suggestions on BYC helped and all lived but one is still not walking. She eats out of a tray when put in front of her, she drinks out of a tray when put in front of her. She is now just past 4 weeks old and only weighed 30 grams when we found she was being given wrong food. She was eating only chicken scratch. We swithched to a high protein diet of 20 percent and all chicks have regained strenght and are growing rapidily all but one. She now weighs 45 grams and is gaining weight but I think she needs other help to learn to walk again? She is strong with her wings, and her legs just are not being used. We excersise her daily by holding her kind of on her back and push gently and pull gently on her legs. She sits with them out in front of her all the time and it seems she can no longer get them under her where they belong. Can anyone help?

She looks to have curled toe paralysis which can be a sign of riboflavin (Vitamin B2) deficiency. Put some good poultry vitamins in the water of all the chicks, and temporarily you could give her PolyVisol baby vitamins 2-3 drops by mouth daily. Avian Super Pack is a good brand of poultry vitamins--1/4 tsp per gallon of water. Here is a link about other foot and leg problems in chicks: https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/poultry-podiatry

thank you for the response and the web site. Her feet are usually flat and not curled like in the pic. I sat her down and tried to get a pic of her and this showed her curled tow. But she usually has no curled toe. However being this all came from a food deficiency, I am looking at the vitamins lacking. I am giving her nutri drench twice a day now but it has no riboflavin or B vitamins listed on the bottle. Thank you again for your help.

that is a weird think that it has no b12 or riboflaven. thanks for the suggestions.

You were right. The vitamin B's were started and today she is walking on her own. Thank you again for your advice.
