My baby chicks got 12 yesterday. They are some kind of bantam. Some have feathered legs and some don't. But they are all just as cute as can be!

Their breeder said at two weeks, FOR two weeks. Stop handling the cockerels. I'm trying it. I can't get good pic's in their brooder with the red light. But here are the girls, growing like weeds

These are our second set of chicks ever. We were raising our first set in Alabama but moved when they were a couple of months old, so we gave them away to family. This year, we have 6 RIR pullets from TSC (well, we are hoping they are actually RIR pullets, they aren't as brown as pictures I have seen). We think they are about 10 days old, the staff at TSC had no idea. Any age guesses would be appreciated.

I had a rough day at work today. I came home to find not one but FOUR new babies in the 'bator!


Here they are, fresh out of the 'bator. All of them are at least half barred rock. Three of them are from my friendliest hen, Sweet Basil. I really hope they inherited her sweet personality.
