Imagine they were human children. When they're little, they want love, affection, protection, etc. As they grow, they become more independent. When they're teenagers, they may ignore you altogether, and when they're adults, they're adults. They're doing their thing and aren't interested in being babied anymore.Has anybody else experienced this before? When my chicks are young they're all lovey dovey with me. They follow me, talk to me and usually beg when they want food. When the chicks grow up, they tend to ignore me, but they'll come to me when I have treats but they don't want to be loved on anymore. It makes me sad in a way. Why do they do that?

You will have exceptions to the rule, of course--I have had plenty of chickens who were cuddly as adults, but they are the exception, not the rule.
Someone posted this on FB and I thought of you...hope the link worksHas anybody else experienced this before? When my chicks are young they're all lovey dovey with me. I'm guessing that is to have a positive influence on their eventual disposition? I'm intrigued by the suggestion. What effect is that supposed to have on them? Has anyone else heard of/tried this?
