OMG I never would have thought that I could love these chickies so much <3 Three hatched last Thursday, one Friday, and the last one Saturday, so they're not even a week old yet. They have such amazing little personalities, though. They know who I am, and they go to sleep in my hand when I hold them :melt:

We named them Peep, Nugget, Cajun, Dumplin, and Rotisserie.

Took a little video yesterday. Sorry about the shaking. I had been doing a lot of work in their room and had gotten a bit dehydrated working in that heat. I turned off the heat lamp to take the video. This was right after I switched them to shavings and gave them some fresh food.

The yellow trouble light hanging down has a 60 watt bulb in it. When it gets pretty warm in there, I turn off the main light and turn on this one for a bit less heat but still providing a spot they can come and get warm. The green things hanging down have bells on them. So far, they have only been played with accidentally. Pink boa in the corner that they like to snuggle under. Some dowel rods and a stick for them to play/roost on.

5 days old here. No more deaths since the 6 we had in the first 36 hours. Seems like we have 22 healthy ones running around now.

Well, I was going to have two new babies in probably less than a week (I forgot what day I gave the eggs to my Silkie), but my Delaware decided to plant her fat *** in the crate with the eggs and crushed them. I thought she had stopped doing that, but I guess not. Gave the Silkie two more eggs. We'll see how these ones do...

Those babies were so adorable, and so close to hatching, too...

My broody Australorp "Ebony" hatched out five eggs for me. They are EE/Gold Comet chicks and EE/White Rock chicks.

At the same time I incubated and hatched out 6 chicks. (Also EE crosses)

These are the first 2 chicks I ever hatched in an incubator. My incubator was made from an old Coleman cooler.
I was very surprised when anything hatched out of my home made coolerbator.

4 more from my incubator.

I gave all the chicks to the broody plus 2 EE chicks I got at the feed store (thinking mine would not all hatch)

She never batted an eye as I added chicks.
I got quite an assortment of colors.

This is one of my 6 week old chicks. She is an Icelandic I bought from a breeder (plus 6 others)
