What are the Barred Rocks like?  I'm thinking about getting some, but not sure...

Barred rocks were some of the first chickens I ever raised and they are amazing. They can boss themselves to the top of the flock, but are friendly towards people and have no problem coming up for treats. Our hens were great layers even through the NC "winter". I will admit, the roosters are either the best and most loyal you'll ever have or they can be terrors. Get chicks hatched from people friendly roosters. We had one that would sneak up and kick if someone turned their back on him while our other (my baby) would go intercept him in the process and put him to the ground for you. All around I would suggest them.
