My Mama hen with her new chicks. I had to finish hatching her eggs in the incubator but she sat on them for the duration. I just wanted to make sure all survived the hatch.

Yeah, they are pretty fun, although most of my mixed breed chickens look kinda the same right now... mostly just brownish/blackish

. So I am keeping some mixed breeds and then also gonna have some pens of other cool colored chicken breeds. I recently bought 6 Svart Hona chicken eggs (for $50) and only 1 hatched.

So now I have one expensive chick that thinks he(/she) is a duck (since I don't have any chicks that age to keep him with so he has to stay in the duckling brooder)

He guards the ducklings (even though he is 1/3 their size), makes more squeeky sounding cheeps trying to sound like them and tries to drink like them too, by sticking his head almost fully under the water!

I don't have chickens with the lavendar, blue, self blue or other cool genes like that yet so my mixed breeds are less exciting. I do have a chocolate cuckoo orp roo but he is too poofy to breed the hens

Gotta give him a feather trim at some point

Yes it's gorgeous, and then the grey eggs is even more cool! I gotta start working on trying to get grey eggs, but I have about 1,000 other things I want to work on breeding too

Tricky question.
I'm finding its more how long they are too hot or cold. Just because temp spikes or drops for 3mins-15 is no reason to panic. Reason to panic-blow tourch or flash freeze. But finding I'm way more laided back about EXACT temp,ALL the time. How LONG where they cold and do you know how cold it got?
