Do I need to be giving my chicks probiotics in their water?

Also when we got our hens the man said to give them the vitamin and electrolytes in their water once a week. Well on the packet it says to mix with a gallon of water, but to also give them plain water too. Do I have to give them both plain and treated water? Just wondering.

Our second year with baby chicks.......

Never gave them any of that last year or this year and our chicks and chickens are just fine.

In the wild they don't stop by a pharmacy for these things before they drink out of a mud puddle.

Just a way for the stores to make money in my humble opinion......... If you have a sick chick that might be different.
