Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

So i am slowly realizing how hard it's going to be to get rid of my roosters when they start crowing. It just so happens out of alllllllll of my birds my only barred turken, is a roo. My only sizzle, is a roo. My only welsummer, is a roo. My only silkie mix, is a roo. It's looking like the majority of my birds are picking up male traits here lately. Unfortunately i am growing fond of all of my unique birds.

Oh I so here you there!! I had 13 hatch this week, I THINK I have 5 females...I've got a suspicion the rest are males...I only wanted to keep two roo's for my "new flock", but they are all my babies!! Going to be hard to make that decision when I know for a fact who is who...lol

I think i'm going to break down and buy a No Crow collar for the Barred Turken. He is showing himself to be the dominant bird in the flock and he will make a great guard for the flock. The sizzle i agreed to give back to the breeder so she can try to replicate him with some of her hens. The welsummer roo will be rehomed and the silkie roo will be rehomed. The two show girls and brahma are still a little early to tell if they will be roo's or not and my black turken is developing a lot of rooster traits but i absolutely refuse to believe that out of three turken only one is a hen.

I would like a show girl. They are so funny looking they are remarkable!!! lol Mine are all mixed. I ended up with three turkens, I believe the two I like best are males. Two of them came from light brown eggs, the one I think is a girl came from a green egg. So I am assuming it's a Turken EE mix. Two of my three eggs that didn't make it had turkens also and one was a black. The two I think are males are a yellow/almost white and the other is a yellow with the black "chipmunk" streaks down her back. My sister, who raises chickens and gave me the eggs will take any I don't keep, I just don't want them to go...lol

I've currently got 3 turken, 3 showgirls, a silkie mix, a welsummer mix, a brahma, and a sizzle right now. This week i will be adding a salmon faverolle and a blue silkie to the mix. I lost one turken to a dog incident right off the bat, lost a showgirl to being trampled, lost a barnyard mix and a salmon faverolle to unknown causes and my newest marans chick went missing 2 days ago and we cannot figure out what possibly happened to her.

Oh, wow. Sorry to hear that.

I'm only supposed to have 4. I started with more than i needed with the knowledge that some would die and some would be roosters. Part of the joys of raising chicks.
