I love my animals also. I regard them better than anyone or anything. I just don't understand why anyone would make such a comparison. Children are not sold for meat in grocery stores! Chickens are not humans. It was just a shocking thing to read... I feel good about knowing that the animals my family eats are loved and cared for, have luxurious lives full of dust bathing, sun basking, quality feed and clean water. we just dropped $900 at the feed store to buy enough secure fencing to give these animals a free range space of over 2 acres. For 10 birds that's pretty substantial! I get a little irritated by people who imply farming and raising animals for food is somehow morally corrupt or deficient! I'm glad people love their birds, I love every creature on my farm but I don't judge people who have different farming practices or goals than I do and that comment deemed a little judgmental, like " I would never eat my children but goodluck!" And I find the comparison asinine and rude. I guess maybe I read it wrong? Just seemed judgemental to me... glad that wasn't the intention. All is forgiven.
All I was trying to say was, one, good luck with raising your chicks, and two, all of my birds are pets. I was just implying that my chickens are my children, and that they're as good as any child or human to me so I don't slaughter them.
Even though chickens aren't humans, how does that make them not worth something? But it's fine, everyone can have their own opinion.
